About 3d Blue Chip
3d Lacrosse has joined forces with Jake Reed, owner of the Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp, to create 3d Blue Chip (3dBC), a national recruiting camp series. Jake Reed’s Nike Blue Chip Camp is nationally regarded as the premier and most sought after recruiting camp in the country for high school lacrosse players. In an effort to double the size of the Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp, 3dBC is offering a National Feeder Camp series in five regions across the country, including West, Midwest, South, Mid-Atlantic, and New England. Each regional camp will invite 120 of the area’s best players in grades 8, 9, and 10, to train and compete in front of a panel of local, regional, and national coaches and evaluators, including Reed and Jamie Munro. From the national pool of 600 players per grade, 120 players will then be invited to Reed’s Nike Blue Chip Lacrosse Camp held every June. Reed plans to double the number of spots at the Nike Blue Chip Camp to 240 per grade, as well as add a rising freshman group. Reed will continue to invite the top 120 players in the country as he has done for a decade. The other 120 spots per grade will be granted to the top players from the 3dBC. Blue Mountain Lacrosse: The Coolest Place to be this Summer!

Feelin' Golden! Blue Mountain wins repeat!

PSU's Beaver Stadium was our backdrop for the 2011 Keystone Games.

U19:

The day ended with Blue Mountain winning the 2011 PA Keystone Games Gold Medal defeating the York Legacy team by a count of 7-3 or 7-4.  The contest was a struggle, and York battled mightily but Blue Mtn found a way to break their stubborn defense down enough to scratch and claw for the 7-3 or 7-4 victory.

In the HS semifinals, Blue Mtn defeated Bucks Co. 12-3, while York ended Lehigh Valley's hopes with a 7-5 victory.

Our first game of the day was against Bucks County, which was a prelude to the semi-final game in which we opened up the 10:00am game with a 12-2 win.

Brian Neff, Ephrata goalkeeper, was named MVP of the PA Keystone Games tournament by the coaches.  Truth be told, Brian was superb all weekend, directing traffic as well as making both the solid save, and the spectacular save.  His clearing game was a sight to behold, with pinpoint outlets through the tournament.

But Brian's award doesn't stand alone.  His teammates were just as accomplished in their roles too.  Brian would not tell you any differently. The fact is we had MVP performances from many Blue Mtn players this weekend!  Congratulations boys, you are the Champions!

Coaches Trey Keeley and Austin Schultz led this squad with precision and adjustments throughout the tournament.  Their leadership and performance this weekend was outstanding.

On behalf of the families and players of Blue Mountain Lacrosse, I want to thank you for your patience, your perseverance and your loyalty to our program.  There is no question that there is competition from many summer programs, but in the end Blue Mtn strives to bring together people from Central PA to focus on competing with any teams in the country and that is representive of our region.  I take great pride in trying to give Central PA players the best opportunities to shine as a region.

We had many great performances from great student-athletes throughout the summer; everyone trying to learn a system that is new and somewhat foreign to them as they have been taught previously.  The boys get a heavy dose of the fundamentals and incorporate that into a system that works to put people in the right spots on the field at the right time.  As our U13 and U15 groups sometimes find, that is sometimes the most difficult aspect of our program; working through the style of play that is dependent not only on individual performance and ability, but a firm grasp of the team concepts we preach and try to teach.

Today, our 2011 Blue Mountain PA Keystone Games Gold Medal Champions stand proud among their peers of the past, and present as student-athletes who sacrificed their time and efforts for a team effort second to none.

First, many thanks to a very worthy opponent, the York Legacy program.  You have much to be proud of and you made history this afternoon when both the York and Blue Mtn teams made the 2011 PA Keystone Games HS Division Final an all Central PA event.

Brian Neff, Ephrata goalkeeper, was named MVP of the PA Keystone Games tournament by our coaches.  Truth be told, Brian was superb all weekend, directing traffic as well as making both the solid save, and the spectacular save.  His clearing game was a sight to behold, with pinpoint outlets through the tournament.

Alex Ready (MT), Alex Cummings (PM)

Tough to imagine a Rising Soph who is an excellent goalie, dominating the faceoff X, however, that's what Manheim Township's Alex Ready did all weekend at the Keystone Games.

Alex could have easily been named our MVP for the tournament just for the impressive performance he gave all weekend as our Face Off specialist.  In my 25+ years of coaching, I've never seen a FO middy use his butt end of the stick like a pool cue until Alex demonstrated how its done!  Alex won at least 90% of his face off tries all weekend.  Great job Alex!

Penn Manor's Alex Cummings was a dominating defender all weekend, and led our defensive unit shutting down and at times taking away the ball from the attackman trying to make plays with the ball.  Alex's performance all summer has been outstanding and at the Keystone Games he was dominating!  Superb job Alex!

Hempfield Nation mourns for 2007 CoCaptain Brandon Lehr

Brandon Lehr #8, doing a great job boxing out his man on the face off allowing his Hempfield teammates to gain possession of the ball.

Hempfield Lacrosse mourns the passing of 2007 Co-Captain Brandon Lehr.

Brandon was a vivacious and personable young man, filled with the joy of living life.  It was a rare day that Brandon wasn't wearing his bright smile, and sharing his day with teammates and friends as a high school ball player.  Brandon was first and foremost an outstanding individual who was a very good athlete (swimming and lacrosse), superbly conditioned and could literally run all day; who was also a member of the National Honor Society at Hempfield HS and a young man gifted with intelligence.

He chose to attend PSU, where he was a civil engineering student and had a very promising future.

I ran into Brandon this summer during a luncheon with my staff from Manheim Township, and spoke with Brandon about what he was up to and where he was going.  As always, Brandon just beamed with his persona, and shared his dreams and goals.

Something all of you should know about Brandon that will always live with me, and describes Brandon's perseverance and sacrifice during his senior year.  Brandon's swimming season was spilling over into the lacrosse season, which for us (Hempfield Lacrosse) at the time wasn't a good thing.  We were sorely missing him on the lacrosse field.  Brandon then discovered he had mono, but hadn't known about it through the swimming season, but with the finding that he had mono, he now had to sit out a little bit before coming back to the lacrosse field; and 'oh by the way', Brandon had agreed to switch from a midfielder to a long stick midfielder to help his team out where we needed him most for his senior season.

We had a big game coming up against Downingtown West, who at the time was ranked 5th or 6th in the PA polls, and finally Brandon was able to join us.  In his new position, Brandon was the big difference in our play, solidifying our midfield defense and transitional play with his incredible hustle and skills, helping us upset a very good Downingtown West team, 9-6.  After the game, Brandon was exhausted, but as soon as he took his helmet off, he was wearing his classic smile and sharing in the excitement of the victory with his teammates.  After the game the coaches and I looked at each other, knowing that Brandon's appearance back on the field of play and his sacrifice for his team (switching positions), had made a big difference in our team play that day.  Brandon simply was the kind of person who made me a better coach every time he stepped out onto the field.

Brandon will be sorely missed by many of us, just like he was missed on the field of play during that brief period of time when the district and state swimming playoffs and his bout with mono had interefered during the beginning of the 2007 Spring lacrosse season. However, Brandon's passing cannot alter what Brandon has to teach us, that in life, we should live with an enthusiasm for each day, a hustle and bustle of activity, a need to learn and strive for our personal best, a willingness to sacrifice for the team, and most of all, a smile that communicates a love for each and every moment we have with our friends, family and colleagues.

Brandon...I know you will be missed by your family and friends, and as well, your time with Hempfield Lacrosse will never be forgotten.   Our prayers are with you and your family.

For those of you who know...
