Sunday 8:30am: Blue Mtn Elite 13, Hot Shots 2
Great work on all sides of the ball, and more importantly we really had some very good performances noted by great patience on offense, and great defense that was pressuring the ball and adjacents, always ready to help and collapse on the ball inside. Our goalies had another great game and our LSM play has been nothing short of outstanding! Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LCDS) once again was a beast on face off's as he has been all tournament and he notched his first goal of the tourney too!
Josh Beals (Hempfield), John Sullivan (Wilson), Alexander Phillipi (Holy Name), Zach Campbell (Penn Manor), Chris Ruger (Lampeter-Strasburg) and Alex Cummins (Penn Manor) did a great job all weekend playing close defense. They all were challenged with great competition all week, and learned to play together to become a solid force.
Thomas Pontius (Warwick) was very solid the second half of the tournament and made a huge difference in his ability to step it up and become a impact player as a defender, transition middy and even stepping in on EMO!
We really did pull together as a team especially after a disappointing Friday, losing 3 games, all by 1 point. However, we bounced back, found ways to make things work, and made the adjustments necessary to have a 5-3 record. We had a good tournament, and we had excellent competition.
We didn't win the tournament. But, we proved a formidable opponent.
Scoring vs the Hot Shots:
(1) (David Walligurski from Thomas Pontius. (2) Michael Ondrusek. (3) Calvin Shum. (4) Ryan Bailey from CJ Bosch. (5) Michael Ondrusek from Ryan Bailey. (6) Greg Kirchner. (7) Michael Ondrusek (8) Michael Ondrusek. (9) Nick Brown (10) Nick Brown (11) Nick Brown from Ryan Bailey (12) Blaine Schaffner from CJ Bosch. (13) Blaine Schaffner from Colin Corcoran.

Recap of this afternoon's Blue Mtn Elite games: Blue Mtn has certainly bounced back with some hard fought wins over some worthy and competitive squads. That is one thing about our schedule here, every game we have played except for one game has been very competitive. The difference right now is we are making less mistakes and it is helping us to victory in these battles.
We worked very well together, getting stronger as a defensive unit and of course Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LCDS/LancCath) has kept up the strong play at the face off circle which has been nothing short of crucial!
Both Jake Watson (Warwick) and Joe Patterson (Red Lion) played very well this afternoon. They both made the expected saves and then made some highlight film saves that were big boosts to us.
Stronger play was forced on some of players, and those players responded well taking some pressure off our scoring leaders and becoming a more integral part of our offense and finding the patience to work for the better opportunity.
Enough can't be said about the exceptional LSM play we are getting from Justin Williams (Daniel Boone) and Tanner Biemsderfer (Warwick). Just outstanding work.
We finish our play tomorrow morning at 8:30am on JHU Field 2. Currently, Blue Mtn Elite is 4-3.

Scoring: Connor Rowe (Penn Manor) 2g, Colin Corcoran (Cape Henry Collegiate) 2g, Nick Brown (Cocalico) 1g, Blaine Schaffner (Warwick) 1a, Ryan Bailey (Hempfield) 1a.
Ryan Bailey (Hempfield) left this game at halftime due to heat exhaustion. He will miss the 4:45pm game but will be back to play tomorrow for our 8:30am game.

Saturday 8:30am: Blue Mtn Elite 9, Ridgewood II 1. Blue Mtn was a more experienced team than Ridgewood II, and we were fortunate to have some other players begin to find their form and step up in their ability to find some success offensively.
Ridgewood's goalie did a very nice job, making some very good saves; however, caught Blue mtn Elite beginning to find its step. Calvin Shum 2g,0a (Midfield, Manheim Township), Blaine Schaffner 2g,0a (Attack, Warwick) and Nick Brown 2g,1a (Attack, Cocalico) played inspired and had good movement as they made some valuable contributions in the scoring department.
Other scorers this game were Michael Ondrusek (Attack, Hempfield), Connor Rowe (Attack, Penn Manor), David Waligurski (Midfield, Holy Name), while the following Blue Mtn players had assists: Ryan Bailey (Attack, Hempfield), Alexander Phillipi (Defense, Holy Name), CJ Bosch (Midfield, Hempfield), and Colin Corcoran (Attack, Cape Henry Collegiate).
Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LCDS) continued his tournament dominance at the face off circle while Justin Williams (LSM, Daniel Boone) and Tanner Biemsderfer (LSM, Warwick) continue their great tournament with strong LSM and groundball play.
Joe Patterson (Red Lion) and Jake Watson (Warwick) played well and helped stymied the Ridgewood II's offense along with a strong defensive effort from our close defenders: Josh Beals (Hempfield), Alexander Phillipi (Holy Name), Zach Campbell (Penn Manor), Alex Cummins (Penn Manor),John Sullivan (Wilson) and Chris Ruger (Lampeter-Strasburg).

Friday 7:00pm: Syracuse 6, Blue Mtn Elite 5 Folks, another one goal loss despite a better team effort from Blue Mtn. Michael Ondrusek (Midfield, Hempfield) scored four goals and had one assist, Ryan Bailey (Attack, Hempfield) scored two goals, with CJ Bosch (Midfield, Hemfield) and Thomas Pontius (Midfield, Warwick) each recording an assist.
We continue to make some mistakes, however, our level of competition is good, which means if you make some mistakes you will pay for them. That isn't a bad thing, because our team is building even in our losses. Some more of us beginning to step up and play good fundamental lacrosse, and we left tongiht's loss with a feeling that we can "change our stars."
I thought we all played better, but we just need to further our fundamentals to begin to get these wins against good teams. That's also why God makes tomorrow's, and yes, we are looking forward to what tomorrow brings!

Friday 3:15pm: New Wave One 6, Blue Mtn Elite 5 Blue Mtn Elite is struggling putting the ball in the back of the net, although we are getting closer (hitting pipes left and right).
Once again many missed opportunites to finish, however, Michael Ondrusek (Attack, Hempfield) tallied on two goals connecting from Ryan Bailey's (Attack, Hempfield) two assists. Ryan Bailey added his third assist of the game when Connor Rowe (Attack, Penn Manor) struck the back of the net on nice cut.
Colin Corcoran (Cape Henry Collegiate, VA) scored our next tally unassisted on an amazing never say die dodging through the New Wave defense. Thomas Pontius (Midfield, Warwick) scored our 5th goal of the game to pull us within one goal with one minute left to play in the game.
A hard fought groundball came on the face off, with time running out as the ball changed hands in transition many times.
Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LCDS) found his antagonist at the face off circle with the New Wave face off specialist, and went 50-50 at the face off during this game.
Some bright spots: Tanner Biemensderfer (LSM, Warwick) and Justin Williams (LSM, Daniel Boone) really worked well. Alex Phillipi put togehter a nice series of defensive play.
We do need to cut down on number of times we are allowing transition situations to occur by defenseman getting beat in our opponent's clearing situations. If we add the ability to finish our shots and minimize our mistakes in the transitional defense, we may be able to break this cycle and get back on the winning path.
Until we do that, we will continue to allow our opponents the ability to stay in the game, and pull out the victory.
On a sad note, Spencer Barnett (Penn Manor) suffered a bad high ankle sprain and is probably out for the duration of Champ Camp.

Friday 12:15pm: Blue Mtn Select 7-6 victors over Rhino Rising Seniors!
From Coach Robby Stauffer: Round 3: Blue Mountain Select vs. Rhino Rising Seniors
Blue Mountain Select gets their first win 7-6 !!!!!! The first half of the game both defense and our offense looked good. We were extremely patient on offense that opened up for good looks that ended in success. The defense cleared the ball well and did a really good job at getting the ball into our offensive zone. The first half ended 4-0 Blue Mountain. Although we played well we made a few mistakes right out of half with three unanswered goals on transition, we kept fighting hard and stayed to the basics and tried to slow down the tempo of the game with possessing the ball. The game was tied going into the last minute of the game and we knew that we needed to gain the possession and produce on offense. J.A. Howland (Attack, Warwick) came up big in under a minute when he caught the ball on the right side of the cage and ripped it off the left hip side pipe and into the net to take the lead in under 30 seconds of play. The key to our victory was possessions as well as being patience with the ball.
Key Players of the game:
Ryan Quan (LSM, LCDS)- kept us in the game with ground balls and face-offs as he began to use his stick and throw some checks.
Steven Onarato (Midfield, Hershey)- multiple goals
Brian Neff (Goalie, Ephrata)- stonewall and a clearing machine
Jake Snyder (Defense, Governor Mifflin)- good positioning and all around good play
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Friday 11:30am: Claddaugh White 4, Blue Mtn Elite 3 OT A very disappointing loss for Blue Mtn. Literally, we peppered the Claddaugh team with shots for three periods, and just didn't capitalize on our opportunities. We left Claddaugh in the game, and later we paid for our less than stellar shooting.
In between our sporadic shooting, Ryan Bailey (Attack, Hempfield) scored three assists, with the goals being tallied to Connor Rowe (Attack, Penn Manor), Spencer Barnett (Midfield, Penn Manor) and David Waligurski (Midfield, Holy Name).
Our LSM's played superbly {Tanner Biemensderfer (Warwick) and Justin "J-Will" Williams (Daniel Boone)}, and Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LancCountry Day) once again owed the face off circle.
Joe Patterson (Red Lion) had a great game in goal during his half of play, while Jake Watson (Warwick) played well in goal during the second half.
Players who stepped up their game during this game: Blaine Schaffner (Warwick), Mike Ondrusek (Attack, Hempfield), Josh Beals (Defense, Hempfield), Alex Phillipi (Defense, Holy Name), John Sullivan (Defense, Wilson).

Friday 8:30am: Blue Mtn Select lost to Smithtown, 11-3
From Coach Jordan Kolb: It was nice to see our team come out with a fight after a tough loss to Duke's Thursday night. Although we lost i believe we played a great first half taking advantage on longer possession and also doing well on face-offs The second half we did make some more mistakes especially on defense were we lacked communication which lead to some EASY goals. Our hopes are high going into our third round against Rhino because we know that 2 wins will get us into playoffs and that would be a great accomplishment this tournament.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday 10:30pm: Blue Mtn Elite (1-0) )was down 1-0 to an aggressive overplaying Red and Black Elite team (0-1) early, but came back to take a 2-1 lead on Mike Ondrusek's (Attack, Hempfield) two consecutive goals with an assist on the second goal from Colin Corcoran (Midfield, Cape Henry Collegiate, VA). Red and Black Elite tied it at 2-2, then Blue Mtn went on a 4 goal tear, making it 6-2. Colin Cocoran added a goal, with an assist from Ryan Bailey (Attack, Hempfield) for the third tally, while Mike Ondrusek and Ryan Bailey set up a beautiful Maverick play to bewilder the Red and Black as Ryan Bailey tallied the goal.
Connor Rowe (Attack, Penn Manor) scored Blue Mtn's fifth goal after Blaine Schaffner (Midfield, Warwick) inverted the ball with Connor Rowe mumboing behind the ball. Mike Ondrusek's third goal of the game came from a dodge down the right alley and left the Red and Black's goalie flat footed as the ball hit net low and to the goalie's right.
The Red and Black Elite added a third goal, before Blaine Schaffner scoped up a ground ball off the face off and raced to the goal. Blaine Schaffner made a beautiful pass to Connor Rowe on the fast break play, and Connor wasted no time getting the ball to Nick Brown (Attack, Cocalico) who scored on a gorgeous one timer crank shot the goalie did not see as he was screened by his defender coming on the slide to Nick Brown. Score 7-3.
Spencer Barnett (Penn Manor) added goal of the game with an assist from David Waligurski (Midfield, Holy Name) on the invert from behind play in which Spencer got some time and room and sizzled a shot from the left hand side to put Blue Mtn Elite up 8-3.
Red and Black Elite then took advantage of some sloppy play by Blue Mtn as well as a few penalties to edge back into the game, making the final score 8-5.
Greg Kirchner (Midfield, LancCatholic/LancCountryDay) was superb on face off's. Tanner Biemsderfer (LSM, Warwick) and Justin Wiiliams (LSM, Daniel Boone) contributed to some great face off victories with their stellar work on face off wing play and some fantastic LSM defense.
Steady performances by our defense Josh Beals (Hempfield), Chris Ruger (Lampeter-Strasburg), John Sullivan (Wilson), Zach Campbell (Penn Manor), Alex Cummins (Penn Manor), and Alex Phillipi (Holy Name) contributed nicely as Red and Black Elite was pushing the goal with their big attackman and speedy midfielders.
Middies Chris Bosch (Hempfield), Calvin Shum (Manheim Township), Thomas Pontius (Warwick) added great support to that defensive effort stalling their mids and preventing rollbacks and helping balance our offensive effort getting some good takes on Red and Black.
A good team effort tonight because Red and Black was an excellent team that was very aggressive all over the field. We were able to take advantage of that aggression and counter it with some patience and getting the ball through to their weakside. Both Joe Patterson (Red Lion) and Jake Watson (Warwick) made some great saves and kept the Red and Black from closing the gap.
Stay tuned as our next game is at 11:30am on JHU's Homewood field against a Vermont/Massachusett's Claddaugh White (0-1) who lost to Canada's Edge (sponsored by the Toronto Nationals) 8-6 in their first game.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thursday 3:30pm: Blue Mtn Select (0-1) started off playing the Dukes (2-0), the defending four time champions of Champ Camp. Our boys scored first (Adam Lenhard, Midfield, Conestoga Valley), but after that it was all Dukes. Final score: 17-1.
With that said, we did have some inspired play even though we were definitely outmatched. Notably Jake Snyder (Close Defense and LSM) from Governor Mifflin and Brian Neff (Goalie from Ephrata) were terrific. Tyler Good (Close Defense, Conestoga Valley), Ryan Quan (LSM, Lanc Country Day), Bryce Mravovich (Midfield, E-town), Anthony Nally (Midfield, Wyomissing), also had nice games. This team will be able to build off this game. They will need to because they face Smithtown next.
From Coach Jordan Kolb: Round 1 Blue Mtn Select vs. Duke's
We knew the Duke's are a very talented team but our team fought hard to take a 1-0 lead from a goal by Adam Lenhard. Unfortunately Duke's team prevailed winning by a large margin. This was a tough opponent for our first game but i was very impressed that we never quit and fought hard the entire game. Practice against an older squad like Duke's is a great experience and is a stepping stone to taking Blue Mountain to the next level.
