John was a former attackman for Hempfield and is very comfortable playing outside the goal-crease area.
Hempfield's stellar goalie John Black is going to school at Gwynned-Mercy College this Fall.
John turned in incredible performances throughout the 2011 Spring season, including a spectacular game in the State PIAA quarterfinals vs State Champion Conestoga, and was instrumental in the team's success this past season.
Two and half years ago, after John was recovering from a knee injury and was watching the Super Bowl at our house, I asked John if he would consider the move to goalie. John responded by saying yes, but more importantly, he got started the next morning and never stopped working on his new position!
Congratulations John!

That was really important to me and my family,” said Phillippi. “I liked the small school atmosphere when I visited. The players were great, they all get along together really well.”
“Our goal is to make the playoffs,” said Phillippi. “We only lost one senior from the varsity and have a lot of young players with good skills coming in.”
Phillippi also plays club lacrosse for Blue Mountain. “I’d like to thank Coach Doug Bailey and all the coaches at Blue Mountain for helping me develop as a player and person,” said Phillippi. “There are a number of players from the team going on to play Division I or Division III in college.
